Founded in September 1951, Liaoning Normal University is a key provincial university in Dalian, a beautiful coastal city in northern China. It is listed among the national double first-class universities.

The university has 1,860 staff members and 1,139 full-time teachers, 13 of whom enjoy special subsidies from the State Council. It has nearly 13,000 undergraduate students, and nearly 5,700 master’s and doctoral students. It has two campuses – Huanghe Road and Xishanhu – along with 21 colleges and graduate schools.

The university has 64 undergraduate majors, including six national characteristic majors and 11 provincial demonstration majors. There are four first-class characteristic disciplines among Liaoning universities and colleges, among which three first-level disciplines have been selected as "first-class construction disciplines" of Liaoning province. It also has eight key provincial disciplines.

The university is building a platform for international cooperation, and has established exchanges and cooperation relationships with 114 universities and research institutions in 23 countries and regions. Each year, it receives more than 1,000 foreign students from more than 50 countries and regions.
