On March 11, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dalian Graphene Valley Carbon Material Industrial New City Project was held in the Songmudao Chemical Industry Development Zone of Jinpu New Area.
The Dalian Graphene Valley Carbon Material Industrial New City Project is jointly invested and constructed by Graphene Valley Industrial Group and BTR New Materials Group Co Ltd.
The ceremony marked the start of construction of the first phase of the project. The first phase covers an area of 690,000 square meters, with investment of 6.16 billion yuan ($855.63 million). It includes the construction of a production line with an annual output of 1,300 tons of carbon nanotubes, an annual output of 485,000 tons of artificial graphite, and an annual output of 100,000 tons of artificial graphite negative electrode materials. The project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025. The second phase of the project, also underway, has a planned investment of 1.5 billion yuan.
After the completion, the project's annual output value is expected to reach 8.7 billion yuan, generating an annual tax revenue of approximately 650 million yuan and creating around 2,000 job opportunities. It will expedite the establishment of China's graphite industry hub, promoting the development of the industrial chain and the formation of industrial clusters.
