A cargo train loaded with China-made cars departed from the Dalian Railway Container Center Station in Jinpu New Area of Dalian, a coastal city in Northeast China's Liaoning province, on May 20, destined for the Bely Rast Terminal and Logistics Center in Russia's Moscow.

The opening of the special cargo train aims to facilitate the export of Chinese cars to Russia, inject new vitality into the global development of Chinese carmakers, and create a new channel for Dalian-based enterprises to export their products to overseas markets.

During the first quarter of this year, Chinese vehicles gained a market share of 42.5 percent in Russia, posing a strong growth momentum. Therefore, Dalian Port Jifa Logistics Co Ltd, under Liaoning Port Group, has rolled out whole-process logistics services via the China-Europe freight trains to facilitate the export of domestic cars to Russia.

The newly opened cargo train carried out 50 containers and was expected to reach its final destination in a span of 12 days.

Over the past few years, Liaoning Port Group has opened several cross-border sea-land intermodal transport routes to further link Dalian and northeastern China with the rest of the world, advance the building of a sea-land corridor for international trade in Northeast China, and promote the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Statistics show that the number of containers transported via the China-Europe freight trains registered a growth of seven percent year-on-year in the first four months of this year.

In the years ahead, Liaoning Port Group will make full use of cross-border freight train services and optimize relevant logistics services in a move to further develop local economies, advance social affairs and facilitate the exportation of Chinese brand products.
