The southern urban renewal project in the Jinpu New Area, with a total investment of 20.1 billion yuan ($3.2 billion), got a nod from the China Development Bank, marking the beginning of the first urban renewal project in northeast China. The implementation of this project will change the relatively slow development of the southern urban area and speed up the process of building a provincial urban renewal demonstration zone in Dalian.
Located at the junction of Jinpu and Dalian's main urban area, the project area is an important link between Dalian’s urban area and its outer regions.
The project will solve the problem of low land utilization and the difficulties of the old state-owned enterprises in the region, and create a beautiful and livable landscape portal for the Jinpu New Area through the construction of river water systems and green corridors.
The project covers about 15 square kilometers and will be operated by Detai Holdings, a state-owned enterprise in Jinpu. CDB will lend a total of 16 billion yuan to the project for up to 25 years.
This project will integrate with regional industrial development planning, upgrade the intelligent manufacturing, clothing design and creative industries, and focus on a new generation of information technology bringing more job opportunities and economic growth for Jinpu.
