Dadong district of Shenyang in Northeast China's Liaoning province, aims to build itself into a zone supporting the provincial capital's construction as a national central city, an important automobile industrial zone and a demonstration zone integrating culture, commerce and tourism.
This remark was made by Li Gang, Party secretary of the district. He said that the district also plans to become a national advanced manufacturing demonstration zone and rank among the top 100 national industrial zones within three years.
Echoing the national call for advancing new industrialization, the district strives to boost its strength in diverse industries, local officials said.
New energy vehicles and the smart vehicle segment will see growth, as Shenyang-based heavyweights such as BMW Brilliance Automotive and SGM's Norsom manufacturing center will help build a cluster of new energy vehicles.
China (Shenyang) Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference is expected to be a calling card of the district and support its efforts to become the first intelligent networked automobile commercial area in Northeast China.
According to local officials, the district will upgrade its modern service sectors. Based on the success of JD Mall and EX Future Science and Technology Museum, the district will work on similar projects to build itself into a youth-friendly area.
At the same time, a batch of policies are expected to be issued to stimulate residents' desire for consumption.
Moreover, Dadong will cultivate small and medium-sized scientific and technological enterprises, speed up the construction of four innovative clusters as well as promoting the construction of research institutes, a local official said.
Enterprises are encouraged to join forces with local universities, and a number of facilities for talents working in the relevant industries are beginning to take shape.
The aerospace industry is also of great importance, a local official added. Following industry giants such as AVIC Shenyang LMNG Aero-Engine, Liaoshen Industries and Shenyang Aerospace Xinguang Group, supporting industries and industrial parks will be new drivers for the district's growth.
In addition, the district vows to have a better business environment with more streamlined procedures and deepen its opening-up by bridging industries.
To build a livable, resilient, and smart city, the district is carrying out urban renewal projects. A total of 316 old residential areas and several parks will be renovated.
Historical sites will be transformed into spots sought after by young people, a local official said. Cultural centers will be built in communities, which enable residents to have access to books, activities and performances.
Residents' well-being is also a key part of the district's development, Li said. Dadong will strive to ensure employment by offering more jobs, improve education quality, provide better healthcare and elder care services as well as installing smart equipment to keep residents safe.
