The second Olympjoy ice and snow carnival opened at Dingxiang Lake Park in Yuhong district in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on Jan 14, according to the organizers.
They said it was part of the 2019-2020 Shenyang winter tourism festival.
The carnival covers an area of 70,000 square meters and is expected to attract 200,000 visitors by the time it closes in February.
During the carnival, activities on offer include skiing, skating, ice and snow cultural events, folk customs exhibitions and activities featuring Austrian style.
Visitors can also experience winter Olympic events during the carnival, including curling.
Aiming to be the largest-scale urban ice and snow carnival in Northeast China, organizers said they will promote winter sports in 20 middle and primary schools in Yuhong district, encouraging more students to participate in ice and snow sports and more winter sport professionals to be trained.
